Frequently Asked Questions
01 Do the course fees for the PMP® Exam Prep include an exam voucher? What about the PMI-ACP®, DASM® and/or DASSM® workshops?
No. Unfortunately, PMI® does not currently offer vouchers for the PMP® exam. However, your first attempts at the DASM® and DASSM® exams are currently included with the course fees as long as you take the exam within 30 days of your course completion. Please keep in mind that this may change in the future.
02 For the PMP® exam, do I have to get the 35 contact hours from an Authorized Training Provider (ATP)?
No. You do not need to get training from an ATP. However, ATPs provide training content that is created and maintained by PMI directly, which guarantees that you will have updated exam prep materials no matter when you take the course. ATPs also receive proprietary information that non-ATPs will not have access to, which will ensure a better learning experience and a greater chance of exam success. Further, Blue Summit CG is a Premiere ATP, which means we have even greater access to PMI-certified and authorized content than Basic ATPs will have. Additionally, our instructors have decades of experience in the field of project management in a wide variety of disciplines, and have been teaching PMP® Boot Camps successfully for many years.
03 Do I need to be PMP® certified to attend the Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM) course? And do I have to attend a DASM course from an ATP to take the exam?
No. You do not have to have a PMP® certification to attend the DASM® course. However, to receive any Disciplined Agile certification you must attend a workshop provided by a PMI ATP and facilitated by a PMI-Certified Instructor who also holds a current DASM® or higher credential. Blue Summit Consulting Group is a Premiere ATP with PMI and we have a staff and large network of PMI-certified instructors who are very experienced in providing Disciplined Agile training and consulting services.
04 What are the requirements to be eligible for the PMP® exam?
The requirements and other details of the exam can be found at PMI.org. But the basic requirements are 60 months of leading and directing projects if you have a high school diploma, Associate's Degree, or the global equivalent, and 36 months of leading and directing projects if you have a four-year degree or higher. No matter the degree, you also need 35 hours of project management training. Our PMP® exam prep course is authorized by PMI and will satisfy your training requirements to sit for the exam.
05 Will you help me with the PMP®/ACP®/DASM®/DASSM® exam applications?
Yes. Absolutely. The whole process can seem overwhelming. Our goal is to demystify the process and increase your confidence and motivation, which includes providing support and assistance in drafting any certification exam applications. Ultimately, success is a team effort and we will be with you all way to the finish line and beyond.
06 What is the difference between the various Agile/DA® Workshops?
PMI has recently announced their Agile Certification Journey (ACJ), which includes DASM®, DASSM®, and Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, and DA Value Stream Consultant (DAVSC)®, which are available today, as well as DA Coach (DAC)® which is expected to be available by the end of 2021.
DASM® requires no agile experience or certifications and serves as the entry level Agile certification within PMI's family of agile certifications. DASM® will teach the basics of Scrum-based Agile and Lean-based Kanban, and the fives steps to customize your Way of Working (or Choosing Your WoW) using the DA toolkit.
The PMI-ACP® training will provide a thorough overview of Agile to include leadership skills and other guidance to successfully lead Agile teams, as well as a broad overview of the most popular Agile methodologies, practices, tools and techniques in use today. To qualify for certification as a PMI-ACP® you need a minimum of 8 months experience on Agile teams and 1-year experience of general project management (although the general project management experience requirement is waived if you currently hold a PMP® certification).
To be a DASM®, you will need 2 years of Agile experience. This workshop teaches advanced DA concepts and techniques, as well as the necessary leadership skills to begin coaching and mentoring your Agile teams to success. The DAC® certification will be for those who have 3+ years of Agile experience and have obtained the DASSM® certification, and wish to improve their leadership skills even further to support large scale Agile transformation efforts and fill roles as a dedicated Agile Coach.
The DAVSC® certification will be for those practitioners with 3+ years of Agile experience and have obtained the DAC® certification. DAVSC's will be senior leaders or supporting senior leadership with complex, large-scale digital and Agile transformation efforts. You will receive the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to create effective and efficient value streams for greater organizational agility.
